One of the first reported 2005 Mustangs in the stable of MAA enthusiasts is the new ride sitting in Richard Liverani’s driveway near Las Vegas, Nevada. Richard a.k.a. Big Daddy drove his blue 1970 coupe on the drive to Nashville in April of ‘04 and out of that trip became a heightened love and enthusiasm for the Mustang and all that goes with it. Just before Christmas while at a Ford dealership to get parts, he saw it. The car had just arrived and still had plastic wrapping on it.
His Torch Red GT has a gray interior with the popular Interior Upgrade Package that features the aluminum trim dash and color changing instrument panel. A 5-speed manual gearbox does the duty of transferring power to the wheels.
When asked about the experience of having the first new 2005 Mustang GT in a small town in Nevada, he replied, “I am enjoying all the attention I am getting in my new Stang. Handles like a dream, corners like a cat, stops beautifully and is awesome quick.” Since buying the new car he has had many “Mustang Moments”,………..”Shortly after I bought the car, I was driving around in Henderson when a Toyota Celica wanted to try and run me. I walked away from him at about 90 (in a 45 mph zone!) and I shut her down. At the next traffic light, a Henderson cop pulled up next to me and motioned for me to roll my window down. I thought I was going to get my first ticket. After I rolled my window down, he was like a little kid telling me how cool my car was and asking me if I thought he should trade his '03 in on an '05. After I cleaned my shorts, I said yes and offered him a test drive to which he replied he was on a call and couldn't.”
Richard and his wife Jo attended our MAA 2005 Winter Meet in Scottsdale last month with the new car, which was the first chance we got to sit in it and play with all the toys inside. He helped lead the convoy of cars from Palm Springs to Phoenix the day before the meet. Nice car Big Daddy!
