MAA News: Press Release 09-21-03 Roush Stage 3 Mustang paces the 40th Anniversary Drive!

Roush Performance and Mustangs Across America have teamed up to for the 40th Anniversary Drive in April of 2004. Roush Performance of Livonia, MI will provide a specially built Roush Mustang convertible to pace the milestone event in celebration of the Mustang’s 40th Anniversary. The caravan drive which spans the continent starts in Los Angeles on April 11th 2004, gathering Mustangs from all over the country to attend the big 40th Anniversary bash in Nashville. “We are excited to have gained Roush Performance as a partner in this event as they are one of the most significant forces in the Mustang hobby.”, says event organizer Sam Haymart. “Their products are the cutting edge of the Mustang’s evolution and we really sought for them to showcase their cars with our event”. Roush Performance has been building specially prepared Mustangs for years at its Michigan facility building popular Stage 1,2 and 3 Mustangs as well as special editions like the 380R and Roush Classic. The cars are known as one of the best engineered and fastest specialty Mustangs ever built. Roush Industries has been involved with Ford Motor Company for over 39 years performing a variety of engineering, testing , design and manufacturing projects for their performance cars. A Roush Mustang is about as close to a Ford factory car in durability and engineering as you can get. “Mustangs Across America is an event which we really wanted to support as it brings the enthusiasts together with the Mustangs in a very unique way,” says Jack Roush, founder of Roush Industries and owner of this years’ most successful NASCAR racing team. “It is a way for the Mustang to be seen in it’s finest form, out on the open road”. Enthusiasts from all over the nation and abroad have already signed up for the convoy drive and are making plans to join in at various points along the route. Traveling along the I-40 corridor and paralleling Route 66 in some areas, the event will mesh the old with the new both in experiencing the sights of America as well as the Mustangs themselves.

The event is being organized with the teamwork of Mustang Clubs all along the route including the Texas Panhandle Mustang Club or Amarillo, TX, the Mustang Club of Oklahoma, Central Arkansas Mustangers of North Little Rock, and the SVTOA in Memphis, TN. More organizations and companies are joining the event as time goes on.
