Our second MAA Bullitt Rallye was host to an intimate and exclusive group of six Mustangs including one from Salt Lake City, Utah and Poway, California. The event is designed as a scavenger hunt that required participants to drive all over town stopping to gather bonus items, answer questions related to the Bullitt movie, and get photos of the cars in key locations including Bullitt movie screen sights.
Our first place winner Tony Machutes drove his Highland Green 2001 Bullitt GT from Castro Valley, CA. He and his wife were nearly tied with our second place winner Carlo DiFabio of Napa, CA. He drove a very nicely done Saleen replica and was only separated from 1st place by 10 points. Our third place winner was Michael O'Donnel and his wife who drove all the way up from Poway, CA which is just north of San Diego. A Bullitt GT owner, Mike had recently had paint work done on his Mustang, so they drove their big red F-Series truck. Of course all verhicles are welcome in our events.
The faithful runner-up contestants were Bob and Barbara Lamb of Grass Valley, CA, John "Doc" Doolittle of San Leandro, and Mike and Joyce Epperson from Salt Lake City, Utah - not listed in order of points however.
The Rallye required our participants to stop at many landmarks and gather "intel" to answer key questions. Among some of the required "bonus items" were a business card from a law enforcement officer, photo of a street walker posing in their car, photo of San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, and an item purchased in the Castro District.
After the rallye, the group gathered at a local restaurant in the Rockaway Beach Village of Pacifica while we scored entries and handed out awards!
