Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I have to pre-register? Will there be on-site registrations?
There are a limited number of remaining registration slots that may be available for walk-up registration, but they are likely to sell out
What does it cost to register and what does it include?
The cost for the MAA 2009 45th Anniversary drive registration is $45.
•Detailed commemorative printed travel guide with information, schedules, and listings for hotels, restaurants, and stops.
•Numbered MAA window placard, commemorative namebadges, metal collector coin, and dash plaque.
•Online access to hotel listings, schedule information, updates from now until the event.
• Access to the many planned events, discounted rates on hotels and other services, and perks of the event. Do I have to do the whole drive, or can I join up for part of it?
You are welcome to participate in any segment of the event or the whole thing. When you register, you will be given access to our Participant Forums which will tell you where and when to meet us each day along the route. This information is printed in the Printed Travel Guides for registered participants as well.
What hotels is MAA staying at?
Hotel information is given to paid and registered participants of the MAA drive. We secure discounted rates and set up "HQ hotels" in the many locations we stay overnight in. These hotel rates and discounts are for our registered participants. Thus, we do not disclose this information to the public at large.
Our hotels will come online through the late spring of 2008 and registered participants can begin making their hotel reservations. If you are a registered MAA participant - please do not distribute this information to the public, as it may prevent you from having a room to reserve if the hotel fills up.
What is the daily drive schedule like?
Our 2009 route is about 400-450 miles per day. There are planned lunch stops that last between 1 and 1.5 hours depending on locations. Gas/Rest breaks are also included a couple times a day in most days. Our format is designed to allow slower cars to meet the schedule, while faster cars will arrive to our stops earlier than scheduled. This allows people to feel relaxed in their driving, that they don't have to race all day to keep up.
Social gatherings, activities, and other events are being planned for a number of our overnight stops. There are also some side trips to tourist attractions such as Santa Fe, NM and the Route 66 Museum in Clinton, OK for example that are bing worked into the route. Other attractions and activities are being reviewed.
Most importantly, our event itinerary is but a guide. We do not seek to keep a parade formation at all times in which people do not have the flexibility to set their own pace or choose their own stops. In fact, such a feat is impossible with as many cars as we have. We encourage people to take in the sights and follow their own travel ventures. If you want to see the 300lb singing canary attraction at Exit 56, take it!
PLEASE NOTE that registration for the MAA Drive and the MCA 45th Anniversary Show in Birmingham is separate, and you must contact the Mustang Club Of America to register your car for their show. www.Mustang.org
How do I prepare for the event? What do I need to do?
We have a fully dedicated section on our website called MAA Boot Camp. It outlines most everything you need to know.
What if I have a question or a problem with registration or hotels?
If you have a burning and detailed issue or question, DO NOT POST on the forums, as this is not the most efficient way to get your questions answere. Contact Sam Haymart - mustangone@mustangsacrossamerica.com
