Does Mustang really belong in NASCAR?

Boy did Sam step in it with this editorial.....



The line in Ford Racing’s story about last week’s Las Vegas NASCAR victory reads, “As races go, they don’t get much better than Saturday’s Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and his Ford EcoBoost Mustang drubbed the NASCAR Nationwide Series field.”

The Ford EcoBoost Mustang? Really now? If this business is all about win on Sunday, sell on Monday where the hell is the EcoBoost Mustang at my local dealership? Am I the only Mustang enthusiast who’s intelligence is flat out insulted with Ford’s cynical play with the Mustang in NASCAR’s Nationwide series?

Granted, I’m not a baseline NASCAR fan so I harbor no enthusiasm for the series of common race cars wrapped around common bodies which are differentiated by only stickers, sponsors and the made for TV celebrity of the drivers. I don’t sit transfixed on the couch on Sundays to see how the rivalry between Ricky Bumpkin and Skeeter Zeke is playing out each week. Did they rub fenders? Did he cuss at the officials again? Don’t care.

So a couple years ago when Ford Racing showed off its first Mustang Nationwide race car at the Roush-Fenway headquarters in North Carolina I breathed an uneasy sigh and rolled my eyes. The car looks nothing like a Mustang at all. The stickers that bear its resemblance are lost in the haze of advertising seemingly blown onto every square inch of surface by a high pressure spam gun.

Those NASCAR Cops are even worse then the Phone Cops.....

If you do not understand the Phone Cops/Johnny Fever comment then you are wayyyy tooo young.
And as God is my witness, I would swear Turkeys could fly.
