Hey all. My inlaws are attending an MCA show in Iowa this weekend. They told us this evening that the 50th Celebration was annonced.........drum roll...........Dearborn, MI on July 4th, 2014. Time to start planning.

NO. This is not a concrete plan at all. It was something Steve Prewitt had said he'd like to see. But it is NOT however a plan in motion, something that is set, nor decided upon.
My wife was born in Dearborn. That's a built in reason for us to go :)

Ok, common sense told me that it is waaaaaaayyyyyyy too early for them to announce it. And would they really upset the mustang fans by having the celebration months after the anniversary? I feel that could almost be compared to a spouse coming home two and a half months later with flowers and a card saying "Happy Anniversary", at that point I don't think "it's the thought that counts." defense works.

I spoke to a MCA rep at Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach last month about this. No plans were firm at that time but he did mention there might actually be 3 events.
Don't know if they will be all on the same date or not as nothing is final yet.
One would be in Dearborn, one in Las Vegas due to Shelby being there, and one in Charlotte NC. The guy said the MCA had a regional meet in Charlotte one year and it was the largest turnout they'd had and the facility was large enough for it.
I still think it's way to early to think anything is finalized yet.
