LOL. It's to iron out dents ;) Actually it's an old iron I use to melt wax for my snowboard. I'll be ordering a bunch of metal today, and hopefully will make some good progress on the front suspension this weekend. I'll keep yall updated. Now I just need to decide what color to paint the car. The stock color is Arcadian Blue, which is slightly different than what is on it now. But I think my perfered choice is a Nissan blue pictured below on a cobra replica, or windveil blue. (It obviously won't be a concourse restoration). What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

Update: Not much time spent so far this weekend on the car; I had a birthday party to go to. But did get the front suspension, cross member, engine mounts, steering linkage, sway bar, and export bar off.
parts everywhere....

I vote for the darker blue like the Cobra. Maybe even a little darker with lots of metallic in it. The lighter blues are nice, but on a real bright sunny day (like California is known for) the lighter colors lose a lot and look washed out.
Wow it is looking better with every picture. I remember the early days of our marriage, when, if I wanted to see my husbands (and many more nights) were passed with both of us up to our elbows in engine repairs on cars (unfortunately none were ours and only one was a mustang). The only difference between him and me was that he only had grease smudges up to his wrists and I was covered all the way to my arm pits! And down to my feet too now that I think about it. LOL Even after Aaron (Cobra Guy) came along; we went about our work while he passed the time in his playpen in the corner with his own tools fixing his Tonka's. We made it a family affair. Hope you have GREAT TIME doing your restoration.
God Bless!

Worked on the car pretty sporadically this week, today was the first day I got to work more than an hour without having to stop. In that time I removed the gas tank, heater box, steering wheel and column, steering box (and spear of death), brake master cylinder, both pedals, brake and fuel lines, both fenders and both doors... Whew. After all that my new best friends helped me lift the bare chasis onto my trailer. I'm scheduled to drop it off this coming Friday down in LA to be chemical dipped. If I can get the glass out of my doors tomorrow evening, I may try and get it down on Wednesday instead if my boss can let me go early....Pretty doubtful (the joys of being a supervisor myself).
Onto the pictures
Looks less and less like a car. Can't get in trouble for a immoblized vehicle in my neighborhood anymore, not many remmants of a vehicle left.
First time it's moved horizontally in over a month. Its good to have friendly neighbors.

how much is the restoration if you dont mind me asking?
Funny you should ask. My wife will develop a heart murmur if she reads this. So far I have spent close to $1700 in parts. My wife and I have done all of the labor ourselves. The chemical dip should be somewhere around $2000 before taxes. About $500 in tools so the total so far is $4170, not counting consumables I will be using to do the body work, paint, paint gun, that I need to borrow from a friend, or purchase, and roughly another $800 in miscellaneous parts. I have a friend that is a welder that will help (and teach) me to weld the patch panels I will be replacing. I will be doing all the paint and prep work myself. The car is a good driving, running car (motor was rebuilt about 6 years ago, transmission about 4 years ago new disc brake/ dual master cylinder conversion last year) so I am leaving the drivetrain alone other then a good thorough cleaning and paint. The only thing performance wise I will be adding that I didn't already have prior to the tear down is a subframe connector kit from SMR. Now if I can talk my wife into the AC kit I want and a few extra goodies (not neccessities) total will probably be around $7000 when all is said and done. But do mind you I am saving a lot by doing absolutely as much of the work as is possible.
