Thanks for the info. I'm going to retire in 2013 and do the Mustang run in 2014 with my wife. Is there a group in Maryland of Mustang enthusiasts I can make contact with. I need to learn as much as I can between now and 2014.
Judging from the multiple emails asking when our next event is, phone calls, and the many new forum members that signed up recently I can surmise that Discovery Channel ran our 2004 MAA 40th Anniversary documentary again :)
To answer the big questions I will go at them one at a time:
Q: When is the next big MAA Drive Event?
A: April 2014, for the Mustang's 50th Anniversary is the first possibility for an event. Stay tuned to this website for any announcements
Q: Is there a 2012 MAA Event?
A: No, our first possible next event is April 2014, for the Mustang's 50th Anniversary. But again, no event plans are made at this point.
Q: Is there a 2013 MAA Event?
A: No, our first possible next event is April 2014, for the Mustang's 50th Anniversary. But again, no event plans are made at this point.
Q: How do I get on the mailing list?
A: Register for the forums and keep an eye on us.
Q: How do I join the Mustangs Across America Club?
A: You dont. MAA is not a club, but an event that happens every five years.
Q: When will you start taking registration for the 2014 event?
A: Usually about a year ahead of time, on April 17th, 2013 come to the site. IF we are having a drive, registration would open at that time.
Q: Where is the 2014 MAA Drive starting and going to?
A: We dont know. MCA has announced two simultaneous events for the 50th Anniversary. One in Las Vegas and one is in Charlotte. We will choose one of the two.

The way I would go about it is check MCA (Mustang Club of America) web site MCA.com
and go the link for your state and see if there are any Local Mustang Clubs listed.
You can goggle Maryland Mustang Clubs and see what pops up.
Check around at local FORD dealership, they may know of some clubs or how to get you pointed in that direction.
Call a local Performace Car Shop/Garage that deals especially with FORDS/MUSTANGS.
Watch for advertising for Car Shows, Cruise-ins.
Hope this gets ya hooked up with some people.
You can also go to http://www.hemmings.com and put your pointer on the Directory button. It will pull down and you can look up the clubs by state. My wife and I plan to do the 2014 MAA drive also. In 2004 I didn't have a Mustang and 2009 I couldn't get enough time off from work and couldn't afford to drive that far. I drove from my home along with a few from my local club in Florida and we met the Weird Pony Drive guys in Dothan, Al to go to the 45th celebration in Birmingham. We all had a blast. I plan to prepare a lot sooner for the next one so I can make the whole run.
